Ramu's villa

Sarjapur, Bengaluru

project description

A Residence | Playful Contemporary The design intent behind was clear from the outset — every room deserved its own distinct personality, while remaining unmistakably part of the same whole. The living room was built around the sofa — a curved olive-green form, sculptural enough to anchor the entire space. The botanical chandelier above carries that same quality: organic and refined at once, setting the tone for everything that follows. The TV wall brings a quieter playfulness — sage cabinetry with arched glass fronts, brass bell pulls, a leaning timber ladder shelf styled to feel collected over time rather than installed all at once. The master bedroom was conceived as a room that asks nothing of its occupant. A full-height wall of sage-toned panel storage rises behind the bed, warm oak runs underfoot, and honey-toned curtains diffuse the light into something almost liquid. The kids' bedroom was split into two distinct worlds — deep teal on one side, warm mustard on the other — and the contrast was allowed to do the work. The teal zone is fully immersive: floor-to-ceiling wainscott panelling, platform beds beneath a pendant lantern, a gallery wall of graphic monochrome prints. The mustard side is more functional — a study corner with cloud-edged overhead cabinets and a globe-lit mirror — but no less considered. The design belief here was simple: children deserve spaces that take them seriously. The study wall within the kids' room is perhaps the most quietly ambitious detail in the home. Painted seagulls drift across slate-blue panelling beside a moon motif, framed by a brass rod shelving unit and an arch drawn directly onto the wall surface. It is the kind of detail a child grows up remembering — and that, ultimately, was the measure of success for this project.
