Swaroop's Residence

Sarjapur, Bengaluru

project description

A Residence | Serene Contemporary Stillness is the design brief here. From the foyer onward, this home speaks in a language of calm — a large-scale backlit Buddha relief, sculpted in white against a white wall, greets you at the entrance with the kind of quiet authority that needs no colour to make its presence felt. A bold black-and-white chevron floor beneath it holds the composition together, grounded and graphic. The living room carries this restraint further. Vertical fluted panels line the sofa wall, interrupted by a single slab of dark veined stone — raw, almost painterly — that serves as the room's focal point. Warm timber shelving wraps one side of the room, backlit and filled with objects chosen for their shape as much as their meaning. Brother's bedroom is perhaps the most arresting space in the home with japanese concept. A full-width textured rock-face wall — rough-hewn, earthy, deeply tactile — fills the entire backdrop behind the bed, its surface catching warm cove light in a way that makes the room feel carved rather than built. The Master bedroom brings a confident shift in palette — deep forest green walls with classic panel moulding, gold ceiling mouldings, and vertical brass sconces flanking an abstract canvas. Rich and assured, without trying too hard. Most unexpectedly, the pooja room steps outside convention entirely. Elevated on a grass-lined platform, enclosed by cascading rope screens, the timber temple structure with classical columns sits beside a hanging jhoola — a space that blurs the line between sacred and lived-in, between ritual and daily joy. A home of considered contrasts, where every room finds its own voice within a quietly unified whole.
